When she first arrived in the United States, she stayed in Miami, Florida, and afterwards lived briefly in Houston, Texas, Azalea settled for a few years in Atlanta, Georgia, working with a member of the Dungeon Family named Backbone. She took her stage name from the name of her childhood dog, Iggy, and the street she grew up on, Azalea Street, where her family lives to this day. She said people would laugh at her because "they thought my raps sucked." But having grown up getting laughed at, she was able to shrug it off. Meanwhile, she'd met someone from Interscope Records who kept encouraging her to move to Los Angeles, and so in the summer of 2010, she decided to do so. She was briefly managed by Interscope. In 2011 she started posting freestyle rap videos online and got popular very quickly.
Today Iggy Azalea is proforming all over the world and collaberating with many other artists such as, Rita Ora, Charlie XCX, Robin Thicke, Ariana Grande, and so many more. She models and hosts her own TV show called House of style and will be in the next Fast and Furious coming out in 2015.

I really appreciate an artist that has been through the gutter. To see someone go through tribulation makes me appreciate them more for being successful.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know she started rapping at age 14! I love some of her music. I'm glad she had a dream and stuck to it.
